Racing summary – Shelmore Park (23/9/20)
BTCC - Scalex
Round 4 of the BTTC series & this has seemed to come around very quickly. This weeks round took us over the halfway mark of the 7 rounds and the overall pattern leading towards final results is taking shape. Albeit with some very close point margins. Again this week, it was Phil making it a quadrella of the first four rounds and taking out 1st place with a slashing total of 101 laps, and was the only driver to top the ton. Rob continued his recent improvement in this series to take out a personal high placing of 2nd with a great total of 96 laps, making this effort even more worthy was the fact that Rob managed to overcome some significant carnage on the first lap of the round this week. Prompting a re-start, it was likened to driving on par with the actual 1:1 BTCC racing series, although luckily without the fisticuffs! Some drivers must have been a little spooked by the prospect of more of this, and this somehow allowed myself in the first of the MGs to slip by default into 3rd place with a popular total of 95 laps. This total was also shared by the Bees….. JB in 4th & DB in the 2nd MG in 5th. Rhys (6th) & Adrian Gray in 7th also shared the same number of laps with 94, just one lap to the good of Bruce in 8th (93), and Callan in 9th on 92. Dave Gray grabbed the final spot in the top 10 with a good solid 89 lap total, and Thomas Males proved his great looking Honda was a very competitive car with a couple of very good stints to finish close behind in 11th on 83. Jason Plato had a round that he’d rather forget this week & his team manager (Chris P) will be trying to get his driver up for the next round to improve on his 12th position and his 79 lap total.
1st - Phil, 2nd - Rob, 3rd - Mal.
