Round 4 - Summary of Racing
In the Japanese GT/GT3 series this week ….nothing happened.
Well, that’s not entirely correct……… but as our correspondent was put under enormous pressure by a certain someone to deliver a comprehensive V8 supercar racing report this week, there wasn’t much time left to deliver anything else! You know who to blame.
In reality, there were the usual suspects of Thomas, Gray & Kalbfell in the top 3 spots. That’s Callan Thomas with 108 laps in 1st, & Adrian Gray on 105 laps in 2nd by the way, as the McLaren dominance continued in round 4. Phil though, sadly had to share 3rd spot this week though, as his Mclaren finished at exactly the same spot on the track & the same number of laps (103) as the AMG Mercedes of yours truly. A rose among the thorns as another McLaren , that of Bruce Thomas, finished in the very next spot (5th) on 102.
JB’s big Bentley slotted into 6th on a nice round 100 laps well clear of Chris Priest in 7th, 5 laps back on 95. Rob Golley did well to grab 8th by 1 lap (94) and avoid the gaggle of cars (3) that fought over 9th spot, all finishing on 93 laps. Or maybe it was because he wasn’t called Dave & couldn’t join their group. In the end it was Dave Schofield 9th, Dave Bantoft (10th), and Dave Gray in 11th. Interestingly, Dave Bantoft didn’t appear to be as keen to get a race report out for the GT series this week…….can’t think why?????
Rhys on 88 laps grabbed 12th this week & Thomas Males rounded out the field to finish in 13th on 81 laps for the night.
1st – Callan
2nd – Adrian
3rd - Mal/Phil
