The penultimate round of this series,
and we saw a complete return to form by the comeback kid (Callan). His consistent & quick driving was enough
to grab the win this week & relegate the clear series leader Phil to a very
tight second. Both finished on the even
100 laps for the night, and were also very closely followed by Adrian (Bruce
proxying) 1 lap down on 99. In a very good 4th on 97 laps was a
driver who has flown under the radar bit this series. Dave Bantoft has continually driven very consistently
& quickly to move himself up week by week & into a clear 4th in the
series with only 1 round to go. Three
laps back in 5th & on 94 laps was myself & this certainly
ended any faint hopes I had of possibly catching DB & grabbing that 4th
spot overall. Another 1 lap down was John Batich (6th), a result
that has almost certainly seen him cement his top 3 series spot with one round to
go. Tied on laps for 7th & 8th was Rhys & Chris
M, with Rhys just winning the battle for track position on this occasion. In 9th
place on 89 laps was Dave Gray in another good drive, and rounding out the top
10, Rob Golley on 88 laps total. Dennis Murray & Chris Priest also had a
close battle for 11th on 86 laps, with Dennis edging Chris out in
the end. Thomas Males rounded out the
strong (& large) field this week on 81 laps.
